How Environmentally Friendly Are You?
Do you leave the tap running when there is no need to? Do you re-use everything you can? Do you recycle things instead of throwing them in the rubbish bin that’s destined for the landfill? How about turning lights off when you leave a room?
There are lots of ways in which we can all be more environmentally friendly, and while many of them are small ways they all add up to a big difference when you try and do as many of them as you can every day. The first step towards making a difference is to be aware of how you live your life now. You will soon begin to spot ways in which you can make changes without causing yourself any more work or upheaval, and you will hardly notice any difference yourself. But you’ll feel better about doing your bit to protect and preserve the world in which we live.
Here are some simple ways to reduce the strain your way of living has on the world. For example, every time a light bulb blows, replace it with an energy efficient one. Not only do they last longer but they use less energy too. You could make another big difference by cycling or walking to places instead of always using the car. Less fuel used means a much cheaper journey for you – and less pollution being dispersed into the atmosphere from your car’s exhaust.
A third way to do your bit is to start buying recycled items instead of brand new ones. Using recycled paper, a water powered calculator instead of one that has batteries, and getting a compost bin to recycle natural waste items from your kitchen into compost you can use in your garden are all good ways to get started.
