Most people have heard the terms eco-friendly and environmentally friendly, but not everyone knows about or understands what green technology is – or what it does. And yet it’s vitally important in the fight against climate change.

What Is Green Technology?
Green technology is an ever expanding branch of technology that focuses solely on creating and developing technological ways of doing things that are good for the planet. The idea is to find new ways of creating energy and performing everyday actions that don’t harm our surroundings; instead they will preserve and protect them so they can continue to thrive in the future.
One example of green technology is the development of ways in which we can use solar power to get some of our energy needs – solar panels for example. Another method that has been developed involves the creation and use of wind turbines to harness the power of the wind to supply us with energy.
As such the field of green technology never stands still. The people who work in this sector are constantly looking for better ways to do things that don’t harm the environment. We can see how this works by looking at an existing way of powering our homes through using gas supplies. Eventually these will run out, which means that even if we have gas during our lifetimes, people who live in this world after we are gone won’t have any.
By focusing on other ways to provide power now through green technology – ways that will always be there, such as using the power provided by the sun – we know that people in a hundred years time will also be able to use that same power, because it is always there as a power source.
Green technology also provides us with the environmentally friendly ways we need to put that power to good use. Instead of using materials that will eventually end up in landfills, we can use recyclable ones that won’t cause the same problem.
